July 4th, Starting New Job

I had a lovely weekend celebrating July 4 up in the Adirondacks with Chris's family. The weather was great, we saw a lot of the extended family, and I enjoyed myself. However, I didn't get a lot of sleep because Koda fussed a lot at night and we all slept in the same room together. He was also up very early wanting to walk around 6 AM, even if we went to bed late.

I am very much looking to a long night of sleep tonight!

I ate off Paleo a few times. But I only had two drinks over the course of the whole weekend, which is a huge win for me. Usually use alcohol as social lubrication, but that, in the end, is detrimental to my mind and body.

I'm starting my new job tomorrow. I am very scared. I am nervous. I'm a little bit stressed. I am relaxing tonight, and already prepped all my food for tomorrow, and will wake up early and bring the dog on a walk before I go to work.

I hope this is the start of a new and rewarding part of life. I hope to start it off right.

I will leave you with some pictures from the weekend:

First dip in the lake-

Flowers on my nature walk-

We hiked up to a cliff to watch the fireworks-

Koda and I "sharing" the couch for the night-

More swimming!-

Non-paleo treat-

Last hike before we left-

So I was pretty active! No matter if I eat Paleo or not Paleo or clean or not clean on a vacation, I always, always, always stay active. The eating wasn't crazy this weekend, though, but I am looking forward to getting back to my normal foods prepared by me!!

  2. Looks like you had a fab weekend before starting the new job! You'll do great.
Good for you not relying too much on alcohol to get through the social stuff.

  3. Hi J - please check out Shawna Lemay's blog Calm Things....she's a Canadian poet, takes gorgeous photos. The blog is a daily meditative read for me. Today she talks about 'walking'....

  4. Of course I hope your first day is wonderful! But just in case it isn't, know that I have had a few terrible first days at jobs that turned out to be enjoyable and rewarding. :) You are such a positive person, I'm sure you are bringing a lot of great qualities to your work and your employers are lucky to have you!
