I also have been doing some pretty intense workouts from Monday to Wednesday. I've been wanting to build some strength and endurance for the winter hikes we've been doing on the weekends. We plan to do another hike this weekend, as well. So I've been taking it easier on Thursdays and Fridays so that I'm not super sore on Saturday for the actual hike.
But add 2+ hours of shoveling to my normal circuit workouts (I did a core workout yesterday, arms/cardio on Tuesday and legs on Monday).. Ow. Ow, ow, ow.
And I did need to do a little shoveling this morning, took me about 20 minutes. I'm actually writing this blog post now to sort of put off the dog walk but I know I have to do today. My quads are actually still sore from the Monday work out.
No pain, no gain?
It's true, though.
I am significantly stronger than I was last December. My muscles are popping out again and I just feel overall stronger and fitter!
It's worth it.
Looking forward to the hike this weekend - third weekend in a row! The more you hike, the easier it gets (mentally especially!!). Also, my improved fitness through the past month should add to my hiking ability.
Had a great breakfast of eggs, spinach, tomatoes and avocado this morning - snacked on a fruit/coconut milk smoothie I blended up.
Now time to man up and get that dog walked. He needs exercise just like I do!
Namaste, friends.
Sounds like a long soak in a very warm tub, with some candlelight maybe, might be just what the doctor ordered. Enjoy it tonight! :)
ReplyDeleteWork it girl!!! Proud of you!
ReplyDeleteI simply can't imagine snow like that! We don't get snow where we live. I like Gwen's suggestion though of a warm bath after all of that :)
ReplyDeleteBreakfast sounds amazing .... and yes definitely a nice warm bath YOU SO DESERVE IT.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I know you've probably posted them before....but on some day when you can't think of anything to post about, will you share what your core workouts are?
