I went skiing on Saturday - The first time I've been skiing since February 2013! I was afraid I'd forgotten how to do it, ha ha. But even on my first run, it's all completely natural and I had a blast. I didn't even take a tumble! I also skied many black diamond runs, so I got to really test out my skills again :-)
Here are some pictures, I am the one in the bright neon yellow jacket:
The cabin that we stayed at is only about a 20 minute drive from the ski mountain, so it made everything really easy. Usually we have to drive anywhere from an hour and a half to two hours to get to a ski mountain.
The cabin:
And here are some shots from inside the cabin. It was a two night long party, many of our friends have birthdays in January so we celebrate them all at the same time on this weekend, so that's why you'll see birthday cakes and fun lights inside:
I didn't weigh in this morning, I don't really care to know what my weight is today, I will check in tomorrow :-) I drank wine over the weekend and ate off plan for dinner both nights (communal meals) but tried to make better decisions than I did on New Year's Eve and day.
Wanted to let everyone know how my weekend went, I was completely off the grid for 2 1/2 dates, so I have a lot of blogs to catch up on!
Namaste <3
Glad you had fun! I never tried skiing; I suppose I would be more the 'by the hearth' type of snow gal. ;)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great weekend Jeanette. I haven't been on the slopes since 1991. I hope I get another chance someday. Glad you enjoyed time with your friends. The cabin with the fire looks cozy.
ReplyDeleteMy husband went skiing for the first time Saturday (I was on baby duty), but he said it was super hard and a great workout. I really want to try it, but I think I may be too large... do any larger people ski with success??
ReplyDeleteAnyway, glad you had a great reset weekend. It's nice to get away from every day worries every now and then. I read your last post, and I just wanted to tell you I'm thinking of you, praying for you and just want you to know that no matter what happens in your life, you will be okay (whether you trust that fact or not). That's not to say everything will always go the way you want or plan, but you have the gumption to get through whatever life brings, and you have a help mate (Chris) to help you through.
Good core strength, leg strength, and a good sense of balance are really the key things one needs to do well with skiing! I've seen overweight people skiing on the mountains, so weight is definitely not an automatic disqualification to do it!
DeleteAwesome!! I hope to give it a try if not this winter than next! Thanks :)
DeleteWhat a fantastic weekend you had ........ love your photo's.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
